Comments from the Community

Comments from Molly, nutrition educator for SHINE:

  • “I enjoy working with the seniors of Fulton, Herkimer and Montgomery counties.  Not only do participants learn from me, a nutrition professional, but I too have learned a lot from participants- from gardening, to cooking, to shopping, since starting workshops in July of 2018.”
  • “I enjoy making workshops interactive as it seems like people learn better that way.  I also have more fun instructing when it’s not just me up in the front lecturing.  Participants are more interested to learn if they can share their thoughts with not only myself but with others, have hands on activities and the ability to taste test healthy items and recipes.”
  • “Yes I do utilize the lesson plans from Eat Healthy, Be Active Community Workshops book, however, I prefer to tailor them to my audience and I love to incorporate other topics of choice into the lesson, upon participant request.”

Shared, anonymous comments from SHINE participants from workshops:

  • I totally enjoyed the workshops. The instructor was very informative and very nice.  We have all cooked and shopped for years but we are never too old to learn something new or be reminded of important things for health.  Good job; well done.  Thank you!
  • The foods were delicious and nutritious and Molly really helped me to be active and to eat more proper.  Now I know I will lose the weight.  I want to.  Thank you for doing this for us.
  • Molly Capito has a gift of the way she presents herself.  She explains everything in detail very well.  The information of these workshops has given me a new insight on how to life a healthier life.  Thank you.
