Richard J. Vertucci received the 2024 Fr. Joseph F. Girzone Crystal Pillar of the Community Award. Rick is a lifelong Amsterdam resident and resides there with his wife Tricia. They have three children.

After graduating Syracuse University with degrees in magazine journalism, political science and American History Rick had a short stint in journalism. He then joined his dad Gabriel in the family business, Gabriel Contactors for 37 years before establishing Gabriel Sealcoating in 2017. In 2004, he founded Rick’s ROBO Car Wash in Amsterdam.

Rick is an active member of the Amsterdam Rotary Club receiving their “Citizen of the Year” award in 2017. He is the VP of the St. Mary’s Healthcare Foundation, past Cub Master and Den Leader of Fonda-Fultonville Cub Scouts and was race director of the Fulmont Roadrunners Hagaman Winter Wimp Foot Race for many years. He also founded the Mohawk Valley Sharp Spurs Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation in 1996 and is currently chapter President and Banquet Chairman. He was appointed by NYS Senator Amedore to the Town of Florida sitting board for the 1,000 acre High River Energy Solar Farm.

Military Veterans hold a special place in Rick’s heart. He volunteers with the Leatherstocking Honor Flight and has given free car washes to veterans and active duty service men and women for many years on Veterans Day. He holds several fundraisers annually to benefit local groups and charities including: Wendy’s Warriors of the American Cancer Society, AHS Marching Rams and sports teams, FFCS Key Club and Girls Softball, Leatherstocking Honor Flight, Local Volunteer Fire Departments. He also donates to many other local charities and fundraisers.
