Evelyn Miles has been selected by the Montgomery County Office for Aging, Inc. as 2023 Caregiver of the Year. Evelyn showed exceptional dedication and commitment caring for her late husband, Wallace “Wayne” Miles, during his battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
She demonstrated remarkable resilience and compassion, persistently educating herself to find innovative ways to support Wayne as he coped with the challenges of the disease, embracing the mission to enhance his quality of life by seeking assistance and resources.
Upon learning about the Caregiver Respite program through the Montgomery County Office for Aging, Evelyn utilized this invaluable resource, providing her with much-needed respite and enabling her to manage daily responsibilities and run errands, while also fostering a conducive environment for Wayne’s care.
